Make Mine Pink Show & Tell Monday Dress Form

Every Monday at Make Mine Pink we do a show and tell Monday to show you something that we have been working on ~

Ever since I saw the article in the April issue of Romantic Homes magazine by Heather Bullard, I have wanted to try doing a dress form ~
I started by ordering the dress form off of ebay and then painted it with Kilz primer and then with Valspar Churchill Hotel Wheat paint ~ after it was dry I ragged on Valspar Faux Antiquing Glaze ~






I have wanted a dress form for my office to hang vintage prom dresses and skirts ~ they are so much fun to use to display all kind of things ~
I have also been looking for a skirt like the one I have shown forever and finally found one at Canton last month so it was fun to put it on the finished dress form along with some of the soldered charm necklaces ~

We have been doing tons of gardening, hanging out by the pool and running around since my mom and dad have been here ~
This is a picture of our 2 girls and my mom in our backyard ~


Today we went to Dallas Baptist University where one of my daughters goes to school to show grandma and grandpa ~ I just adore this school, it is gorgeous and pretty much all around amazing !

The school has gazebos everywhere and this is a bridge that crosses one of the ponds on campus ~ The picture is from left to right : me, my husband Dana, our daughter Kristin, our daughter Stephanie, my dad and my mom ~

This is a picture with my daughter Stephanie's boyfriend Noah ~ I think they are on a slant because Noah looks really really tall and my husband looks really short, he is short but not that short :o)

Well I am off to watch a movie ~

A Visit from my mom & dad ~

I have been away for a week so I just wanted to let you know where I have been ~ My mom and dad are here from California for a visit for a couple of weeks ~
We make it an annual tradition to go to the Canton flea market once a year ~ it is my dad, mom, my sister and I ~ we have a blast and stay for a few days just browsing the treasures, eating lots and laughing lots too ! We won't be going to Canton until the end of May ~

They drive out early to stay with us ~ we have been planting flowers, talking, eating yummy pie my mom makes and watching movies ~ I am so blessed to be able to spend this time with them so I have been kind of away lately ~
I am listing a little on my website, packing orders and answering emails and it will all pick up again at full speed at the beginning of June ~

Make Mine Pink Show & Tell Monday

Every Monday at Make Mine Pink we do a show and tell on our blogs ~

Last night after the house was empty from our Mother's day BBQ, I decided to work on some soldered charms and have wanted to do something for some vintage buttons that have been around for awhile ~

I just love old buttons because they remind me of my grandma ~ she always had baby jars full of buttons and everything was color coordinated ~ my sister and I used to love looking at all the different colors and shapes ~ Now my mom has all of those wonderful baby jars full of not only buttons but memories ~

These are vintage jars that I found at flea markets filled with old buttons ~ the button charms have glass glitter and the largest soldered charm has a vintage crystal hanging from it ~

The button jar charms are available in our jewelry category to tie on your own button jar ~

Vintage Bling

Every time I go to Canton, or to any flea market for that matter, I have something in particular that I am really really hunting for ~ I am always looking for old china with pink roses, architectural finds, lace, old linens ~ all of those things are so much fun to look for but this time I was looking for vintage rhinestone jewelry ~ It is so hard to find lately ~ I guess I am not the only one looking for it ~

I hit a treasure chest at one of the vendors ~ he had a bag stuffed away because he didn't think anybody would want it ~ it was full of broken rhinestone jewelry ~




I was sooo excited because that is what I was looking for so I can embellish more soldered charms with it ~





Then I spotted a vintage tiara that was kind of shoved to the side and asked him about it ~ he didn't think anyone would want that either ~ I almost bought a new one because I love them but I am so glad to have found a vintage one !! That is even better ~
You will see a lot of this tiara in my pictures :o)

I am not sure what the "thing" will be next month but it is fun to dig in those hidden spot because you never know what you will find . . . .

Canton First Monday Flea Market in May

There are times I am just amazed at how fast time flies and this is definitely one of them !! It seems like I was just showing you pics of the last Canton First Monday flea market and it was here again ~

If you have visited my blog very often, you know it is one of my very favorite things to do !! I LOVE going to Canton ! Most months I go for 2 days and just spend the time browsing and digging through tons and tons of treasures !! Some of the spots are set up just gorgeous and some you literally have to dig through boxes ~
