So I decided to show you some pics of recently added items to our shop ~ We add things pretty much everyday so things are always changing at Katies Rose Cottage ~ Some of the time I will post a couple of the new items on the Home page but not everything is always posted there ~

These are just a few newly added treasures ~

Pink Friday "Stitches in Time"

Stitches in Time; tiny stitches holding the hem of a linen napkin, stitches intertwined to make the most delicate lace, stitches crocheted by the smallest hook, stitches through canvas strengthened by wool yarn. It's these stitches created out of love that adorn a bedspread crocheted for a granddaughter's wedding, a sampler commemorating the birth of a child, a fine table cloth made to entertain the most important guests and family at Thanksgiving. Each of these stitches has survived the test of time and is so much more appreciated today as gifts from our past and treasures of our future.

Join Katies Rose Cottage and the Boutiques at Make Mine Pink for our "Stitches in Time Pink Friday on Sept 26th. You will find cherished items stitched with time and love.

Make sure and sign up on our mailing list for a special tomorrow to go along with the Pink Friday event ~

Tea Stained Millinery Flowers

I love to find vintage millinery flowers but they are pretty hard to find in Texas ~
I wanted to show you how new millinery flowers take on an awesome vintage look with just a little tea staining ~
I really love the colors and how they came out so old looking ~

This is how they looked before ~

And this is what they look like after tea staining ~

You can get them without the tea staining on my website in the Create It Yourself category ~

Vintage Mercury Christmas Balls

Last year I bought some vintage Christmas balls in all different colors because I wanted the pinks, blues and whites ~ I had to get the oranges too because they were all mixed up ~ I am not an orange color lover for Christmas so I didn't use them ~

A few days ago I read on Andrea's blog about how you can take old mercury balls and put them in warm water and the color just comes right off ~
I had sooo much fun digging through the ugly colors and making the most beautiful mercury balls !! I am so excited ~ thank you Andrea !

I have a feeling I am going to have these everywhere, in fact I have an apothecary that is empty right now ~

Crown & Tiara Obsession

I just love crowns & tiaras and am drawn to them wherever I go ~
It started when I went to a retreat called "Pink Impact" and the theme was how we are crowned for beauty in the Lord's hand ~
So I made a t-shirt with this on the front ~

And I have tons of crowns in all different categories of my website ~
Here are some of them that are there now or will be coming back soon ~

Vacation Part 2

The second half of our California vacation was visiting our family on the central coast ~

My parents live in the home that my grandpa and grandma lived in for a few years ~ They live up on a hill that overlooks 2 towns and it is gorgeous ~ there is something about having an amazing view from your home that is wonderful to a girl living in Texas ~ they also have deer in their yard that I love to see but my parents aren't overly thrilled with them since they tend to try and eat all of their pretty flowers ~

These are hollyhocks that my grandma planted years ago and every year they bloom ~

The area they live in is known for its wineries and olives ~ we didn't go wine tasting this time but we did go to some olive tasting rooms and they were so yummy ! We also went to some of my favorite antique stores and some fun thrift stores ~

Before we left I got to go through my grandma's buttons ~ I remember when I was a little girl loving to see her jars of color coordinated buttons ~ She even took the time with some to thread the like buttons together on a single strand of thread ~ I can't imagine taking the time to do that ~~ it is so neat ~
The jars that she used were old baby food jars and peanut butter jars with the prices of 49 cents still on them ~

Vacation is over for now and it is good to be home ~

Talk to you soon !! I am off to add goodies to my website and catch up ~
