Beeswax Altered Canvas

I was having fun working with Beeswax today so I thought I would do a tutorial as I was playing around ~
I just love the look of Beeswax and have been working on some altered canvases ~

~ Altered Beeswax Canvas Tutorial ~

First you decide what paper pieces you would like to use and then you adhere them to your canvas ~ I use Modge Podge ~

Then to give it an aged look take any brown tone ink and just randomly sponge ~ Make sure and do the edges too ~

When you have all of the paper items that you would like on your canvas it is time to paint over it all with your melted beeswax ~ I melted mine in a tiny crock pot and paint it on with a cheap brush because the brush will be ruined ~ the beeswax gives it a really neat look ~ I did not wax over my lace this time but you can do that if you want ~

The next step is to add embellishments ~ I love tea dyed and crinkled seam binding so I added it along with some roses and vintage buttons ~ these are hot glued on ~

That is it !! So easy and fun !

If you want to purchase the finished canvas you can get it here ~

This is another one that I just finished ~

The Antique Alley is the 3rd week end in April. Think that is the weekend of the 17th. Hope to see you there. Are you going to crafts Fri. night?

I too am curious over beeswax and why? Is it for a texture, color, what?
I have my glazing wall man coming soon I hope and I want to do some plastering on objects, he said something about using something like french plaster or something like that...some plaster that was more rubbery flexible so it wouldnt chip.
Have you heard of that?
Your finished picture is amazing.

Lori, Thank you for the tutorial. I love the look of these. It was so much fun for all of us to be together last night. I needed to be out with friends!!! And I am sooooooooo very glad you finaly got to join us.

And thank you for your sweet words of comfort in the loss of our precious Reba. Today stinks because it is the first time since she passed that I have been alone. Joanne went home today & Hubby is at work. THE HOUSE SCREAMS WITH QUIET! Her rugs are still there, the food bowl gone but, SHE is everywhere I look... yet no where to be found. My heart is broken & I feel so ALONE! But, the sweet words of friends like you have been a comfort. HUGS! Charlene
