I just love crinkled dyed ribbon for using on my projects ~
This is a tutorial on how to make it yourself ~
First you get whatever color ribbon you want to use ~
I use seam binding for the ribbon because I love how it feels ~
Then you soak it in either tea or instant coffee ~
I scrunch mine in a ball and wrap it in about 3 rubber bands ~
Then I sit it out in the sun and as it dries it gets a wonderful aged look especially on the outside edges ~
After it has dried about 3/4 of the way, I take the bands off and kind of loosely spread the ribbon out to dry in the sun ~
Every once in awhile I go and turn the ribbon until it is completely dry ~
Then it is ready to use on your projects ~
I just love love crinkled dyed ribbon !
If you don't want to try it, I do have some for sale on my website here ~

Well Lori Great minds think alike ..this is how I make mine too ..only difference I dry mine in my toaster oven in the metal tray ..
I just set it on the lowest baking degree and within about 10 minutes it's dry and has a great look all over ...
Have a Lovely Night ..

Yes, thank you Lori, I was wondering how you did that and couldn't remember to ask you.
I think it is great how bloggers are so willing to help and share their secrets so we can all do wonderful projects. That is one of the things that makes blogging so much fun. When you share you make so many friends.
Take care of your little sweet self.

Thanks Lori, for the great tutorial. I love the crinkled look to that seam binding ribbon. I knew it was done something like this, now you have given me the inspiration to just do it.

Ooo thanks Lori, I've dyed in tea and coffee before, but never let it dry outside, so I'll try that. Sometimes I get to use expired, plain packing that we use in surgery. LOL! It kind of looks like muslin. Your binding though looks a little more shiny and prettier than mine. Thanks for the tip!
OOOh what is nice idee!!
I love the crinkled ribben!
Thank for charing with me.
have a nice and sunny day

Hello, dear Lori,
Thank you for showing us how to get that crinkled look for our ribbons. I also want to say how much I love your pocket pillows, so much fun to find vintage images and other things to put into the pockets. I, too, have a thing for sweet baby shoes. Thank you so much for coming by for a visit, my friend. Enjoy your Friday and have a lovely weekend~ Vicki
p.s. I so want to get to Canton soon. Haven't been in a long time, too long.

Lori,
I love to stain & wad that seam binding but I never thought of making a big ball out of it, very cool. I love your results! You always share your secrets with us, you rock! Lisa

Lori, Thank you so much for the tutorial. I just LOVE how this looks when it's all done! Also, thank you for the kind words of encouragement for Hubby & I during this trying time. Life does throw pot holes in front of you at times. The love & support (& prayers) of friends help sooooooooooo much. Have a great weekend. Charlene

PS thanks for coming by.
I'm so behind visiting friends blogs.
Hey Lori,
Great tutorial. I too would love to know your source for the seam binding. I have seen several but I am always concerned it will be too heavy.

Capers of the vintage vixens
This is such an easy tutorial!! LOVE IT!! I am sooo going to use it! I always see the crinkled binding on cards and thought where do i get it?! But now I can just make my own! THANK YOU! What brand of Seam Binding do you use? Hope to hear from you!
Thanks for the wonderful tut! I am excited to try it, but it is cold and rainy now and will be for 4 more days. Wanting some sun in Illinois.
Love the vintage look! The best and cheapest place I have found to get the seam binding is www.zipperstop.com!
I love it! Thanks for showing us how!
Faye
Thank you so much!
I also have done this a while back ...I boil my seam binding to get any of the sizing out & than soak in a very strong hot tea . Also if U shop in a of the thrift store's try finding vintage florist ribbon in the big rolls ( not the waterproof kind ) any color, than boil for 5 min. take out put in a strong bleaching solution of 3/4 c. hot water to 1/4 c. bleach soak till u get a color u like, rinse, towel dry & scrunch up .Cheap & you'll love some of the results ... I tried this with different types of new & old ribbon or torn, ripped fabric with some fun results .... ~~ gail ~~
