Mini File Folders

I was all inspired this afternoon and have a gazillion projects all over the house and none of them are complete ~ Right in the middle of my gazillion projects I decided to read blog updates and saw Diane Knott's mini file folder tutorial ~

I just had to make one right then ~ then I remembered reading on Lisa's blog about the cute little bubble thingies ( it is not a tutorial but as cute as can be ) so I had to do those while I was at it ~

Ummmm that is pretty much how my brain works ~ It is always going all over the place and at one time ~ Isn't that how right brained people are ??? I tell myself that at least ~

I bought this wayyyy cute paper at Anthologies and wanted to use it so bad so I did ~ I did my first mini file folder upside down ~ HMMMMM there goes one piece of paper down the tubes ~

Then I used the other piece to make my other file folder and the magnets ~ I cannot wait to make more because they were easy as can be ( well after I figured out how to make them not upside down ) and fun too !

Creamy Fabric Bags

I am just loving soft whites and creamy colors so much lately ~ I am not sure what it is ~

Tonight I decided to make some more of these sweet little bags ~ they are tea stained, stamped and have some vintage lace along the top and bottom ~

They are stuffed with vintage crumpled paper that I got from Lisa at Tarnished and Tattered ~

Art Group with Creative Gals

I was sooo excited to finally get to go to an Art Group that I have spent the last few months missing ~ Between weddings and displaying at the Dallas Home & Gift Show, life just passed me by ~

These ladies are wonderfully talented and it was a blast getting to craft with them ~ Everyone worked on their own thing along with alot of talking, eating and laughing ~

It always amazes me how I have talked to these ladies through blogland for awhile and when you meet in real life we feel like we have known each other forever ~

And then there were others who were busy crafting on stuff for fun or to sell ~

It was alot of fun and I cannot wait until next month ~

A Few of My Favorite Things

I just wanted to show you some yummy things that are some of my new favorite things ~

I kind of hoard these pillows and bottles but I have actually let some go that are on my website at Katies Rose Cottage ~

This cone is soooo pretty and is one of my favorite colors !

These are the sweetest ballet shoes that I got from my friend Lisa at Tarnished and Tattered ~ She does such wonderful things !

Beeswax Altered Canvas

I was having fun working with Beeswax today so I thought I would do a tutorial as I was playing around ~
I just love the look of Beeswax and have been working on some altered canvases ~

First you decide what paper pieces you would like to use and then you adhere them to your canvas ~ I use Modge Podge ~





Then to give it an aged look take any brown tone ink and just randomly sponge ~ Make sure and do the edges too ~




When you have all of the paper items that you would like on your canvas it is time to paint over it all with your melted beeswax ~ I melted mine in a tiny crock pot and paint it on with a cheap brush because the brush will be ruined ~ the beeswax gives it a really neat look ~ I did not wax over my lace this time but you can do that if you want ~




The next step is to add embellishments ~ I love tea dyed and crinkled seam binding so I added it along with some roses and vintage buttons ~ these are hot glued on ~





That is it !! So easy and fun !

It's All About Paris & Crowns

It is all about Paris and Crowns this week at Katies Rose Cottage and Katies Rose Cottage Designs ~

Anything Paris and anything with Crowns was hot at Market this year and I was thrilled because they are some of my favorites !!

Pipe Cleaner Roses

So what do you do on a snowy day in when you should be cleaning the house ?
You watch the Martha Stewart Show and make Pipe Cleaner rings with the Pipe Cleaner Lady ~ Who would of thought :)

I really really wanted to make a soft vintage pink one but I only had silver ~ So I antiqued the silver ones with some stain and then wrapped it around vintage hymnal music, tea stained seam binding and lace ~ and Voila ! a vintage vignette piece ~
I cannot wait to get some pink ~ Do they make aged looking pink pipe cleaners ? Hmmmm .....

Snow In Texas

Remember the post that I wrote just a couple back about wanting the warm warm weather ~ Something tells me that is not happening for some reason ~

I know it has been snowing everywhere and this is normal to alot of you in the United States but it is not normal in Texas ~ So this post is for my family in California while they are basking in the sunshine ~

I have to admit that it is very beautiful !

While I was outside taking these pictures I fell right smack on my hiney but my elbow saved my camera, thank goodness !!

Bird Nest Baby Shoe

There is something so precious about baby shoes ~ I love them and am always on the look out for them at flea markets and thrift stores ~
I found some recently in Kansas and got inspired by Barbara Jean's tutorial to put a precious little bird nest in one ~

How perfect is a nest with spring around the corner ~
