Signs of Summer in my Backyard

Yesterday the kids all came over to BBQ and swim ~

It was so fun because it just felt like summer was here ~ I love

the summer and all of the things that go along with it ~

These are just a few signs of summer from my backyard yesterday~

In the morning I tea dyed some linens to make more pillows ~ I love being able to hang them outside to dry and it took no time at all in the 90 degree weather we are having already ~

I planted 5 peach trees a few years ago because I love peaches and they always seem to be yucky in the grocery store ~ This year 2 of the 5 have peaches and there are tons ! We are trying to get to them before the birds and the bugs ~ they are so sweet and delicious ~

It is so fun to me to go out in my yard and pick my own herbs so every year I grow some ~

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers and I love the color of this one so much ~

This is Kirby after a swim ~ He loves loves the water and looks so cute all wet so I had to take a picture ~

Well I am off to fold linens and lace ~

James's Travel Photography on Display

I am constantly in awe of my son in laws photography work ~ He is truly talented ~

He will be showing his travel and landscape work at the Main and Vine Art Gallery in Keller Texas on Saturday, June 5th from 6-9 p.m. for Gallery Night ~ There will be other artists as well as music, wine, drinks and snacks ~

James not only does travel photography but family and wedding photography too ~

He was freaking me out getting this picture ~ it was so much scarier in real life ~

I was just looking at his pictures again to see which ones to put on my blog and it was pretty much impossible to choose ~ one of the thoughts that crossed my mind as I looked at them is what an awesome God we have ~ It is amazing at what He has created for us ~

Doggie Post

I just have to do the doggie post ~

Forever my girls begged to have a dog but I knew that mommy would be the one doing all of the work soooo we said no dog for years ~

Well we finally gave in when they were older and got a Shih tzu named Katie ~ She is 9 now ~

About a year ago we got another one to keep Katie company ~ his name is Kolby ~

Since we got Katie my sister has one, my niece has one and now our girls are married and they both have one ~

This is the newest addition ~ his name is Kirby and he is soooo darn cute !! He is our youngest daughter's ~

We took them all for a walk yesterday and Kirby is only 4 pounds ~ he was trying to keep up with just the biggest smile on his face ~ They are soooo CUTE !!

They are happy and adorable and bring us tons of love and laugher ~

Cream & Tarnished

Over the weekend I went to the sale at Cottage Panache and fell in love with all of her gorgeous things in her shop ~

I got to get some of Lisa's wonderful treasures before she sold out ~

Soooo I have always been a pink shabby chic girl but Oh my gosh my heart skips a beat over creams and tarnished silver ~

Rene at Miss Gracie's House has me completely inspired to redo my bedroom, well whole house, in creamy yumminess ~

I have noticed that alot that I get for my website has these colors too ~ I will never get away from a little touch of pink though as you can see from the pictures ~

The last post showed some of the things I was working on and these are some of the things I got over the weekend and just listed at Katies Rose Cottage ~

I just love the soft and relaxing feel of this look ~

My Scattered Creating Morning

Do you ever have those days where your brain is going a gazillion miles

an hour with so many things you want to do and create that you

can't focus on one ..... well that is me pretty much

all of the time :)

So this morning I got up and started dyeing my new stash of

vintage laces and linens ~ Put out my sewing machine and spread

it all out pretty much all over the place ~

After I made one pillow I remembered the

sweet little baby shoes that I got so I had to embellish them with some vintage yumminess ~

Then I remembered the cute basket I got yesterday

and decided to dye and stamp some tags and ribbon to pretty it up ~

While I was taking pictures of all of this ( in the crummy rainy light ) I remembered the

Dream sign that I just got and wanted to add it to the cute

little vignette that I was photographing ~

Ohhh and then as I was digging through my Canton treasures

that held the linens and baby shoes, I remembered this

awesome bracelet !

All of this started by putting a whole day aside to work on pillows ~

So what am I doing now ...... blogging about it because I got side tracked again :)

BTW ~ these will all be on my website today .... that is my goal ~

Afternoon update .....

I got two more pillows done and listed and then got on an altered bottle side track ~ Gotta love rolled roses :)

Paper Cowgirl Altered Art Retreat

I am excited to be going to the Paper Cowgirl Altered Art Retreat

in Texas on June 24th

I will only be able to go one day even though there are 3 awesome days of fun ~

The class that I get to take is going to be taught by Lisa at Tarnished and Tattered ~

She sent this in the mail to get us ready and even more excited about it ~

Home from Vacation

** Update ~ Pillows listing today May 15th **

We are home from Hawaii which is bittersweet ~ It is so much fun to go

on vacation but always wonderful to come home too ~

I will be getting orders out and listing new treasures on both of our websites this week !!

Hawaii Landscapes

This is James, our son in law ~ Kristin, our daughter ~ my husband, Dana and I at one of the beaches we hiked a ways down to ~

This is our first time to the island of Hawaii ~ it is so diverse compared to the other islands we have been to ~ We have spent the last 2 days driving to the Hilo side of the island which is so tropical ~ the Kona side is dry and has alot of lava ~

These pictures, that James did show the different climates on the island ~

Hawaii Fun

Today we drove across the island to an area that they said you have to be invited to go to ~ I am not sure I understood that since we just drove there with no invitation but there was a guy giving us permission to go in once we got there ~ It was this really really huge valley that you had to have 4 wheel drive to go down ~ The road was soooo incredibly steep that it freaked me out being afraid of heights ~ At the bottom of the hill we passed several cars that didn't make it many years ago and rolled down the hill ~ it was sort of disturbing !

We went to this one area and James took his mega buck camera in the river to get some shots ~



All of a sudden a couple of horses just came up and walked across the river ~ We found out later that they are wild there ~ We could not figure out why horses would just be roaming around like dogs ~

Later we drove to different beaches ~ the first one the sand was black ~ it was really beautiful ~

Hawaii Day 1

We just got to Hawaii for our week vacation ~ We're staying at Wyndham Kona Hawaii Resort and it is so pretty !!

We love going to the Farmer's Markets in Hawaii because they have some really different fruit, veggies and gorgeous flowers ~
