I haven't been blogging for about a week now because
my mom and dad have been here visiting from California ~
We always enjoy our times together and I truly miss
being closer to them ~
This picture is my dad, mom, hubby and daughter ~
My mom and I had fun creating one night and worked
on some vintage bottles and books ~
They are all on my Katies Rose Cottage website ~
The other thing I have been working on is adding some of
our new charms to Katies Rose Cottage Designs ~
There will be alot more added over the next few days too ~
I love all of the new designs so much !

It is time to list some more or go to bed .... hmmmm ~

When I was in Canton last month I got a few wonderful old books ~
I started reading one I got on Etiquette from the 1800's ~
It is so much fun to read !!
Here are just a couple of the sentences that make me smile ~
There are quite a few though ~
"With care the skin may be kept free from the disfigurement of freckles. "
"A warm water bath once a week is necessary for cleanliness."
"A nap of 40 winks will help aged people get through the day in comfort."
This cracked me up ~
"If the eyebrows unite, let them alone. If you remove uniting hairs a scar will be produced which will disfigure more than the meeting eyebrow."
I could go on and on with each chapter of this awesome book ~

Today it was a wonderful day to get out petticoats, wash them
and hang them out in the beautiful sunshine to dry ~
There is something so gorgeous about seeing the layers and layers
of ruffles hanging in the sun ~
I want to live in the time when all girls wore petticoats
because they are so sweet and feminine ~
I could definitely be a petticoat kind of girl !
You can find the one Kristin is wearing here ~

Remember the lavender that I brought home from California ~
It smells soooo good !
I have been making lavender sachets with it that have been alot
of fun to do ~
This is just a quick tutorial on how to make them ~
They are easy peasy !
First start with a piece of fabric ( I use vintage that I have tea dyed ) ~
Stamp the image or images you would like to use ~
I tear the edges so that they will fray ~
Next with another piece of fabric cut the size you want it to be ~
This one is 7.5 by 10 inches giving me 1/4 inch seam allowances ~
Sew on your stamped image pieces ~
Then fold your fabric in half right sides together leaving
a space at the bottom to turn and stuff it ~
When you are done sewing turn it right side out, iron
and stuff with just a little batting and I put 2 generous
Next turn in the raw edges of your open spot and sew ~
I use my machine because then I am going to sew on lace so
it is okay ~ You can hand sew it if you would like ~
The next step is to embellish with whatever little things that
you want ~ On this one I used gathered tea stained dryer sheets,
seam binding and vintage buttons ~
I also like to stamp the fabric after it is sewn but before the
stuffing ~
It is fun and they smell yummy !
If you don't want to make them yourself
then you can find them at Katies Rose Cottage ~

Yesterday I went to Canton First Monday Trade Days,
which is pretty much one of my
very favorite things to do ~
Give me a junk'n day over the mall any day !
I don't like new junk but old junk ~
More like old treasures that tell a story ~
LOVE IT !
I found some wonderful things and will
be listing them at Katies Rose Cottage soon :)
Darn I just noticed the awesome iron bed in this picture ~
I didn't even see it when I was there ~
I think that is Margo from Flea Market Style Magazine
and Robojunker in this picture ~
I need to pop over to her site and ask her ~
I get in such a zone while I am there that
sometimes I don't notice much around me ~
Well alot of times .....
