Easy & Inexpensive Ruffle Curtains

I just wanted to show you a quick, inexpensive

and super duper easy ruffle curtain ~

This is what I am working on

today so I thought I would

show you the steps as I go ~

Curtains like these have been shown in

blogland before but

I am not sure where so if

you know let me know :)

Ikea was my spot to get the curtains because

they are a great price and

the fabric is awesome !

They say not to dry them in the dryer but

I did and the fabric came out kind of like a

lightweight drop cloth feel ~

First I cut the white set to the length

I needed because they come real long ~

Then I ripped 2 lengthwise strips of

the darker about

9 inches wide and sewed them together

to get the correct length for gathering ~

Then I used my handy dandy ruffle foot and

pleated them ~ If you don't have a ruffler just

gather any way that you would like ~

Next I measured and pinned

the ruffle to the bottom

and sewed it on to the curtains ~

I left the edges raw on the ruffle

because I like them like that ~

For the ruffle it just took one of

the darker panels

so I have another one left which is tons

to make pillows out of ~

It would be cute to add another ruffle too !

These are actually for my bedroom but

I would love some outside too !

The pictures kind of look weird but

I was having fun in grittiness with picnik :)

Later today:

I made a pillow with the extra

curtain panel ~

I love the ruffles and rose

{I bet it was hard to tell I LOVE ruffles :) }

You can find it on my website ~

SUPER LOVE THE CURTAINS!!!!!!!!!! I need a new sewing machine & you were talking about a ruffler attachement...??? What kind of machine do you have? Do you have a surger too? I've been pondering that too but, one demo on threading that bad boy had me running for the woods!

I went to Canton too! IT WAS TOO HOT!!! I think I'll wait until October to go again... YOU are a brave girl. Let's get Pat, Lisa, you & I to do lunch soon! I miss everybody! Charlene

Love them! They came out super cute. I have a ruffle foot but have never used it - it's a bit intimidating looking! I may have to play around with it if I can get results like that!

These are so cute!! I have the lighter Ikea curtains, but I haven't hung them yet. What are the darker ones? I don't remember seeing them. Your pillow is adorable too :)

That curtain looks great!!! And....I know how you love ruffles and roses. That rose on your junkin hat looks very cool. And the picture is VERY VERY GOOD! You look sooo pretty.
That idea that Charlene has sounds good to me. But I start helping with an estate sale Wed. Maybe the week after.

And I'm going to Ikea tomorrow, what were the chances you'd post this?

Sheer genius - thank you so much.

Gorgeous! I have to get back to Ikea, they had some curtains like that (Minus the pretty ruffles) in the clearance section because the hem was out, I snapped then up and have been using it for everything! I recently got a ruffle foot...OH I am in love!

Lori,
Those are awesome! When did you get them at Ikea?
Thanks so much for sending the stuff, those girls jumped on that jewelry like it was gold! Wiped me out. I wish you'd been there, it was a blast.

Lori WOW! your curtain panels are really fab...I have been wanting to make curtains like this for some time, and you have inspired me to get going on it. I love the frayed salvage edges on them.

Lori I would have done just what you did laundered them to give them that perfectly imperfect look and feel to them like you did to them.
Bravo!!!

Thank you Lori for visiting me and encouraging my art with French house numbers :)

See you soon,
Keep inspiring your beauty!
xoxo
