Chalk Paint Little Projects

So one of my biggest hang-ups

with taking the Chalk Paint plunge

was the fact

I really don't like to brush

paint furniture and it is kind

of pricey ~

(I do adore all of the gorgeous

pieces that everyone has done though!!)

Most everything I paint are little

pieces that I sell on my website ~

IF I ever paint furniture it is

in my paint booth with a huge

air compressor sprayer ~

But....after reading about it

pretty much everywhere I decided

to give it a try and see what all

of the hoopla is about ~

I went around and grabbed some little

pieces in my workshop and "played"

with my new paint ~

It is so fun to work with because it

truly feels different to me ~ It covers

very well and has the neatest look

pre-waxed and after the wax ~

The Annie Sloan book shows tons

of stuff you can do with it that

I am anxious to learn ~

Here are the steps and looks that I did

on an old frame ~

This is the first coat

of Duck Egg Blue

( I LOVE this color )

Then I did a coat of Old White

This is how it looked sanded

and waxed with clear ~

This is with the dark wax ~ I am not sure

which I like better with or without the

dark wax ~ I think they have their own

really pretty distinct looks ~

I actually love the look without

the wax too ~ but the wax brings out more

of the color and gives it a

wonderful feel ~

These are two other pieces I did ~

The Fleurs Pocket has a

Paris Grey base coat ~

I am pretty sure I will be doing

my kitchen cabinets but

has anyone used it in a sprayer ?

I am working on a frame that is

ready to be waxed ~

See ya soon!!

Your projects came out just beautiful as always - the frame is really stunning! I have not taken the chalk paint plunge yet but I will because I know I can't resist that duck egg color for much longer.

Have a nice evening!

Hi Lori!

Thank you for showing all the different looks of these products. I've been on the fence about trying it because of the cost. I like the look the clear wax gives the frame.

Wow, that frame is gorgeous! I wish I had one just like it :)

They all look great. I like the darker wax. It looks more antique. I need to paint a table right now. It is already yellow with white sploches. Looks kind of sick. Needs some shabby loven.

Hi Lori,
Thank you for your visit to my French home!
I will treasure your beautiful comment :)
I am loving the chalk paint pieces you have created with the finishes, I am not sure what I love more the dark or the light wax, I think the dark takes on a euro flea market feel and the light looks a bit more cottage in style.

It will be inspiring to see what more you come up with in your own style.

See you soon my sweet friend.

What is it in the chalk paint that makes it so different? I am hearing about it all over but don't really why it is different. I am like you...a spray-girl...plus I don't like to change...LOL...Is it recommended for kitchen cabinets? That would scare me...such a big investment...your projects turned out so pretty!

Love the frame! I really like the look after it's waxed. I've been using a mixture of clear paste wax and the Annie Sloan dark wax.

Hi Lori!!
Your projects turned out BEAUTIFULLY!! That lunch pail is sooo cute!! I NEED one!! :))
I'm with you when it comes to brushing!! I LOVE MY SPRAYER!! Oh, the little things in life that make me happy, lol!! I will eventually jump on the bandwagon :)) I'm just afraid I will buy all the materials and I won't find a piece that is "worthy" of this paint, lol!! I think there might be some gold in there or something :)) I can't even IMAGINE putting it in my sprayer!! I would faint if I had any overspray, lol!! I just need to bite the bullet and do it!!
There is a new vendor in the Antique Gallery (where I have my booth) that is a "stockist" of the Annie Sloan Paint, if anybody is interested.
I would love for you to link up with my new party on Friday!!
You can even link up as many tips, tricks, and tutorials you like!!
Hope to see you there!!
LOVE FROM HOUSTON!!

Love how your frame turned out. I have yet to try chalk paint...but judging from what you've done with the paint...I soon may.

I too was hesitant about purchasing AS Chalk Paint. Mainly because of the price. I finally took the plunge & love it! I have 5 colors that I absolutely love! My goal is to buy all of them but that will come with time & money! ;) It's worth the investment for sure. Love the frame! Looks amazing!
