Canton Junkin' and What are These ....

Last week I got to go junkin'

in Canton Texas ~ If you have

followed my blog for very long

then you know it is one of my

favorite times of the month!!

I LOVE it!!

Here are some of the wayyyy cool

things that I found ~

But....right as I was leaving

I saw these ( see pics below )

and for some reason really like them ~

The guy selling them said they are

grain buckets ~

Does anyone know if that is what they are?

I just know they would make

the coolest little thingies to hold

stuff but I haven't figured out

how or what to do with them yet ~

I love the colors and the rust ~

So very Vintage Farmhouse ~

They have 2 holes in the back

that are perfect for hanging ~

I need to scour Pinterest I am thinking ~

They look like grain buckets to me (not sure if that is the official name but that's what I've always called them). The holes in the back are where they would hang from the fence. the holes should be larger in one spot than the other (so the bucket can be slid off the nails/screws holding it in place to be cleaned).

Can't wait to see what you do with them!

I love the rusty grain buckets, and all your other goodies. I took a day off and went on Thursday, perfect Canton weather, We need to meet up and grab a glass of lemonade sometime! Lezlee

They are grain buckets but look to be the ones that are attached to a leather strap that wound around and had many on it. It would be on a machine and go around scooping grain at one spot and releasing it into another area..I bet they are very cool in person.

Yep, they would be on a belt, the belt would spin like a paddle boat, and the scoops would pick up and drop off the grain or water or whatever.

See what I did with some of mine here.

have you been to Round Top? You would love it there even more. I'm getting tired of dodging the electric scooters at Canton. You found some wonderful things.

I would imagine that they hung on the wall of the stall in which and animal lived and used to feed them. I love them, such great colour and patina. A good find.

You have the best stuff over there. Love all your finds and the little grain buckets. You could use them in the office for mail and bits and pieces of stationary. They have such a vintage, slightly industrial look to them. LOVE them. Leahx

You found some great stuff, Lori! Wouldn't those grain buckets look cute on a front door with flowers in them? You could loop some burlap or linen through the holes to hang it :)

I love seeing your posts. Those are wonderful finds. I think the little grain buckets would be wonderful hanging on the wall. I so enjoyed going to the Canton flea when I was in Louisiana. Would love to have a change to go back someday...except hopefully a cooler month.

I love the old lunch bucket painted white!
For the grain buckets I would use them as planters and use the back holes to hook onto an old cupboard door or small vintage door or anywhere you wants greens. Happy Creating.

Being a city girl, I wouldn't recognize grain buckets at all, but I like the look of these too, and I always love blue mason jars :)
Have a wonderful week!

yep...as all have said....grain buckets. I see them simply filled with fresh pine boughs for Christmas. I bet the guy you bought them from thought you were nuts buying crusty rusty old buckets. Don't you just love it? I bought a set of vintage wood horse brushes today. Again, I think the lady I bought them from thought I had lost it. Lori, love your tute on the tea stained roses....yummy!
